What is Alkaline Water?

Alkaline water is common everyday water that contains a pH that is greater than seven. This is accomplished through a process also known as electrodialysis, which divides the water into alkaline and acidic flows. The alkaline based side contains iodized minerals such as calcium, potassium and magnesium, which are healthy and beneficial to the body.

While normal home tap water contains a variety of raw materials, not all of them are good for you. After many of the harmful materials are filtered out of the water, an ionizer uses the process of electrodialysis in order to divide the mineral deposits in the water. During this process, some of the water molecules may split and divide, creating charged particles. While these elements are short lived, medical research suggests that alkaline water may get its antioxidant-like assets from these stimulating hydroxyl ions.

In addition, alkaline water is alleged to benefit ones health by neutralizing chemical imbalances within the body. This is thought to be effective on the health of the body, as some believe the body can be too acidic, thus causing health problems over time. Alkaline water is believed to neutralize the body’s internal pH, which supports good health. The most common process of obtaining alkaline water is by an alkaline ionizer that is installed onto a regular home tap water system. This unit will then use the electrodialysis process as stated above to filter the water and achieve proper pH level.
